Virus Prompts Plastic Bag Ban Delay

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Remediation and Waste Management reports it will not begin enforcement of the state’s ban on single-use plastic bags until Jan. 15, 2021, in light of the coronavirus emergency. The bureau says state law pre-empts municipal enforcement of the ban.
