Fighting Maine’s Opioid Crisis - First meeting of Maine Recovery Council

The Maine Attorney General is announcing the first meeting of the Maine Recovery Council.  Municipal officials are urged to attend the meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1:00pm in the Maine State House, Room 228 (Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs). 

The Council will investigate the statewide needs for fighting the opioid crisis in Maine and will begin planning for distributions throughout the state of certain funds from legal settlements or bankruptcies to address the opioid crisis, including to 1) prevent opioid addiction; 2) prevent and reverse opioid overdoses; and 3) help Maine citizens recover from addiction. The Council is established pursuant to court order and 5 M.R.S. s. 203-C.  The first Council meeting is to convene the members, review the Council’s duties, and identify the Council’s next steps and its next meeting date and location.  More information is available on: https://www.maine.gov/ag/recovery-council.
