Bath is seeking an Assistant Planner for the Planning and Development Department. Bath is a service, educational, recreational and employment center for the region with strong community bonds. Its identity is rooted in its vibrant and walkable downtown, historic buildings, forested landscapes and waterfronts. Within its small footprint, it packs a mix of urban compact, rural areas, and commercial zones.

As Assistant Planner, you review site plans and subdivisions, interpret the Comprehensive Plan (recently updated), and Land Use Code, provide planning and land use advice to officials and the public, and prepare reports and other technical materials. You report to the Director of Planning, and work with a team that manages codes enforcement, environment and sustainability, and community and economic development.

Is this your perfect job? You have relevant education such as a bachelor’s degree in land-use or urban planning, public administration, or civil engineering; with experience in municipal project management, economic and community development, or land use or urban planning. You can analyze complex situations and data; understand site plans, maps, and GIS; and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. You have sound judgement, work well independently and on a team, and can maintain positive relationships. This full-time, FLSA-exempt position is a Grade B09 on the City’s scale and starting salary is $62,545 – 71,926 depending on experience.
