City of Portland - Vital Records Clerk

Part Time (22 hours per week)

This position involves complex and confidential duties issuing birth, marriage, and death certificates, fishing and hunting licenses, marriage licenses, dog licenses, while handling high volume of telephone calls and mail-in requests. Assist with Election related duties as needed.

Requirements:

• Applicants must be energetic, detail oriented, and organized.
• Ability to be customer friendly is required.
• Computer literate and have the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
• Must also have excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to climb a step ladder and retrieve heavy (up to 20 lbs) volumes of records from vault.
• Must be able to work with a diverse population, including language diversity.
• Must be able to qualify as a Notary Public within 60 days of hire.
• Overtime hours, that may include evening and weekend work, may be required during petition verification and elections.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 10) - Starting at $19.85/hr.
