The Town of Pittsfield, Maine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Manager.  Pittsfield is a rapidly growing community located close to urban and recreational opportunities. Pittsfield is a community of roughly 4,000 people and is uniquely positioned as an ideal place to live, work, or grow a business.

Pittsfield has a Town Manager and Town Council form of government with a town charter. Pittsfield is a full-service community and has a current municipal budget of $6 million, excluding schools, with 29 full-time employees, as well as 28 – 34 part-time and seasonal employees.

The Pittsfield Town Council is seeking an individual with strong budget and financial management skills, experience with tax issues and TIFs, roads and infrastructure, as well as Human Resource and Labor Relations topics. Experience in planning, economic development, housing and smart growth management is important. This is a full-time, 4 day per week position.

Candidates should possess excellent public relation and communication skills, a comfort level with current and emerging technology, a positive attitude, and demonstrated leadership ability. The ability to engage and energize volunteers and the community will be a key priority in this role. A transparent, collaborative, and team-oriented management style is also essential for the role.  A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or similar relevant field is preferred, and experience in Town Management, executive municipal management and finance experience is a plus. Candidates with comparable management experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
