Schedule: Hours Vary- some evenings and Saturdays required
SUMMARY: The Lewiston Public Library is seeking a full time Librarian to manage its Adult & Teen Service Department. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the department and is a member of the Library’s leadership and management team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and a minimum two (2) years management experience is strongly preferred, but equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; have experience with public speaking and community collaboration; work well as part of a team, and possess excellent managerial and leadership skills. Candidates should display strong technology literacy and function with a high level of energy, creativity and initiative.
WORK ACTIVITIES: The Adult Services Librarian reports to the Library Director and supervises the department’s full and part time employees and volunteers. Major duties include staff management (hiring, training, scheduling, and performance appraisal); assisting library patrons with information needs; collection and resource development for digital services and new technologies; community collaboration, and library strategic planning. As the head of the Adult & Teen Services division, this position oversees and participates in planning and presenting events, assists with library website maintenance and social media accounts, as well as general library marketing initiatives.
