Grants Accountant- City of Lewiston

GENERAL INFORMATION:           Department:    Finance

                                                            Barg. Unit:      AFSCME Professional Technical Unit (Pro-Tech)

Status:             Full-Time (37.5 hours/week; M-F 8:00am – 4:30pm)

Grade:             6  [$24.09 - $35.59 / hourly]

 

SUMMARY: The Grants Accountant is primarily responsible for the financial accounting, reporting and compliance of the City’s CDBG, HOME, Brownfield, Riverfront Masterplan EDIS grants and any other awarded grant funds. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related Business Administration program is required. Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative experience in municipal or grant accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Must have working knowledge of Federal, State and local laws as applicable to grant provisions and be proficient with spreadsheets, word processing and database software, and display knowledge of accounting and financial management.

 

WORK ACTIVITIES:  Responsible for all municipal grant reconciliations and prepares budgets and financial reports on a monthly and annual basis. Maintains loan portfolio, to include reviewing invoices and coding for accuracy, pursuing the collection of delinquent loan balances, processing reimbursements, payments and preparing drawdown information. Completes financial and monitoring audits of HOME developers annually. Prepares municipal grant applications in full, or in part. Investigates and resolves grant posting and/or loan payment disputes. Attends meetings, training sessions, and may serve on committees to represent the City. Conducts offsite audits and serves as an ambassador for the special revenue programs. Completes other duties as assigned.
