Equipment Operator I

Performs driver and laborer tasks in a variety of road construction, maintenance, and repair operations. Plows snow in the winter. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma/GED, Class B Commercial Driver’s License (with air brakes) and excellent driving record. Previous construction and snow plowing experience is preferred, but not required. Pay rate for this full-time position up to $27.32/hr. DOQ. The work schedule is Monday – Thursday (May – October) and 4 ½ days the rest of the year.

Equipment Operator II

Operates all classes of trucks and equipment owned and/or rented by public works which includes excavators, skid steer loaders, font end loaders, sweepers, sidewalk plows, and multi-purpose equipment. Work also includes laborer tasks in a variety of road construction, maintenance, and repair operations as well as some supervisory work when needed. Plows snow in the winter. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma/GED, State of Maine Class A driver’s license with a tanker endorsement, or the ability to obtain the license within a six-month period, and an excellent driving record. Five years of experience in heavy construction with three years as an equipment operator or successful completion of an appropriate operator training course is preferred. Pay rate for this full-time position up to $30.41/hr. DOQ.

The work schedule for both positions is Monday – Thursday (May – October) and 4 ½ days (November – April).
