Job Description

The Town of Hartland is seeking a dynamic individual to fill a full-time position as a qualified Finance/Administrative Assistant.  Hartland has a total operating budget in the $5,500,000 +/- range.  This budget includes the following departments; Town, County, School, Landfill and Treatment Plant.

An applicant for this position should be skilled in the areas of municipal accounting, cost coding, budgeting and auditing.   This person should also be able to multi-task, work independently, and be proficient with the TRIO financial/budgeting software system along with Quick Books.  This applicant should have a take charge attitude and be able to demonstrate success in a municipal setting.  Other duties include Deputy Treasurer, Deputy Tax Collector, and Deputy General Assistance Officer.  The applicant must be a team player, be comfortable dealing with the public and have an outstanding phone presence.

A two- year accounting degree is desirable (4- year degree preferred) with a minimum of five years of education and experience.  Equivalent job experience may be considered as a substitute for the accounting degree.
