The Town of Bowdoinham is currently seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Code Enforcement Officer and Local Plumbing Inspector.

This position is responsible for the enforcement of all municipal codes, zoning ordinances and other applicable federal and state ordinances coming under this jurisdiction, reviewing permit applications, conducting inspections and working with the public, in an equitable, professional and uniform manner. Applicants should have knowledge and experience with construction practices and a willingness to stay current about changes in the field. This position requires knowledge of the Maine State Plumbing Code, the MUBEC, the State of Maine Shoreland Zoning, and State of Maine Code Enforcement.

The Code Enforcement Officer is expected to carry out his/ her responsibilities with initiative, independence, and confidentiality while exercising good problem-solving skills and professional judgment. Applicant must be certified or become certified as a Code Enforcement Officer within 12 months and as a Local Plumbing Inspector within 3 months. In addition to required State certifications, the candidate must have a valid Class C State of Maine driver’s license, a good driving record, and a vehicle available for job use. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; excellent record keeping ability; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
