The Town of Winthrop is seeking applicants for a RESERVE Dispatcher position. This position is assigned responsibilities involving the operations of communication equipment in a law enforcement communications center. The position requires skilled work of a technical nature to provide communications support and computer information processing for Police, Fire and Ambulance response for the eight communities we serve.

Duties include accurately, quickly, and courteously receive telephone calls from the public for police, fire, emergency medical or other public safety services and obtain the essential information required. Accurately and quickly assign and dispatch appropriate units and resources to police, fire, emergency medical, and other public safety incidents. Provide communications coordination of public safety agencies and resources. Accurately, and in a timely manner, use computer-aided dispatch system facilities for complaint-taking, unit dispatching, coordination of incidents and transmission and retrieval of information through local, county, state, and federal law enforcement data networks. Accurately record information on a variety of forms and logs as dictated by operational procedures.

Position requirements: Demonstrates initiative, good judgment, the ability to work well under pressure, the ability to work successfully with a team and individually and be willing to work a flexible schedule. High School diploma or GED equivalent. Willingness and/or ability to work rotating shifts. Related supplemental training preferred. Experience in public safety dispatching and related certifications desirable. Must complete and pass Certified Terminal Operator training course after hire if designation not already held.
