The Town of Enfield, Maine is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Animal Control Officer (ACO). Enfield is a rural community of 1,435 year-round residents, as well as a home to a considerable seasonal population.
The Animal Control Officer serves to protect and advocate for animals, enforcing Maine Animal Welfare laws and town ordinances related to dogs, cats, and other domestic animals within the Town of Enfield.
This is an emergency on-call, as needed position, which works mostly independently. The Town offers a monthly stipend, plus mileage reimbursement, basic equipment, and ACO continuing education.
Education and Experience: A minimum of a High School diploma, one (1) year of experience in animal care and control preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Animal Control certification preferred but not necessary. Must obtain certification within six months of hire. Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
