Child Care Site Coordinator (22.5-30 Hour Permanent Position) – Before & After the Bell Program - Parks, Recreation and Facilities

Portland Recreation is seeking a Recreation Childcare Site Coordinator to join our Before and After the Bell program, which offers exciting and enriching activities for Kindergarten through 5th Grade students, right in their own school! This position is designed to oversee one of our 9 Elementary site based programs on a day to day basis.

Our Before and After the Bell REC Program is designed to actively involve and stimulate children, providing time and space to explore and grow. With a variety of group and individual activities, our program focuses on character development, physical fitness, health and wellness, reading, and of course, fun! Hours/Available Schedules:

 

• Expected start date for this position will be August 26, 2024 with training, and September 3, 2024 is the first day of school and the program.

• Hours are varied based on the school site assigned.

• Typical schedule is 2:00-5:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 1:00-5:30 on Wednesdays.

• Alternate sites include a schedule of 3:15-5:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 2:15-5:30 on Wednesdays.

• Morning Care sites include a schedule of 7:00-9:00 am.

 

Requirements:

 

• Good customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse population.

• Ability to maintain order and enforce rules and regulations and to impart enthusiasm in a positive and productive atmosphere.

• Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities including games, sports, arts, crafts and group activities. Ability to direct such activities.

• Initiative and willingness to learn a variety of additional recreational activities.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, program participants, school staff, and the general public.

• American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or the ability to obtain within the first six months of appointment date. We are happy to train you for this so you can gain additional skills.

Salary & Benefits:

 

This is a union positon, CEBA (Grade 9) - Salary range of $20.34-$21.25 per hour.
