The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking an organized, motivated, and team focused individual to fill the full-time position of Purchasing Agent with the Public Works Department.  This important Department is a positive, dynamic workplace with dedicated crew members who strive daily for service excellence. 

 

This position is responsible for a vast range of tasks including, but not limited to, locating and purchasing materials; preparing and tracking competitive sealed bids; record keeping for fuel as well as vehicle and equipment maintenance logs; and has an active role in safety training.  For more in depth details see the position description. 

 

Minimum qualifications for this position include high school diploma or GED equivalent and valid State of Maine driver’s license.  Experience with computers, office equipment, as well as purchasing, office and tracking software programs is desirable.  A general knowledge of light and heavy vehicle maintenance; the construction industry, and health, wellness and safety standards is desirable.  The City is prepared to provide training and support for the right candidate.  Selected candidates are required to pass a, drug screening, credit check, and consent to a driver’s license and background check.  The City of Brewer offers competitive wages with a comprehensive benefits package.
