                                                      COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR OPENING

Overview & Schedule The Communications Director is responsible for the daily emergency telecommunications and related services provided by the Knox Regional Communications Center to include law enforcement, fire, EMS, and EMA; works closely with the Communications Executive Board and User Group in all matters relative to the KRCC. This position directs and is responsible for all personnel matters within the Communications Department. This is a 24/7 9-1-1 call center and requires availability for day, evening, night, and weekend availability.

Qualifications • Four (4) years of management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in progressive management • Three (3) years’ experience and practical knowledge in communications technologies, the application of such to 9-1-1 systems. • Ability to manage and supervise an office serving the public safety community with communications for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and EMA. • A four-year college degree in a related field, or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience, required. • Possess or obtain within two years of employment the following professional qualifications: ➢ The National Crime Information Center Terminal Operators course. ➢ E9-1-1 operator certification in GeoLynx, Guardian and APU Certification. ➢ Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification. ➢ Fire Dispatcher Certification. ➢ Emergency Telecommunicator Certification. ➢ Terminal Operator Certification.

Compensation The starting annual pay range is $68,972.00 - $80,828.00, depending on related experience. The County provides an excellent benefits package to full-time employees, including health insurance fully paid for the employee and 75% paid for dependents, paid vacation and sick leave, retirement plan, and other voluntary benefits.
