The Bangor Water District is seeking a Full-Time District Engineer.  This position serves as primary point of contact for the public on technical matters involving Bangor Water’s main extension requirements, distribution and transmission line information, water service technical requirements, and for the overall engineering requirements implemented by the District.  Provides engineering support to all departments and oversees the Engineering Department. Supervises and manages the operations of the Engineering Department.

The successful candidate must have the ability to get along with others in a professional manner, demonstrated proficiency at operating PC/server-based systems; familiarity with GIS, survey and layout, and SCADA; proficiency in preparing construction drawings using CAD software; effective supervisory skills.

The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or environmental engineer; demonstrated supervisory or management experience; five years’ experience in construction, maintenance, engineering, and project management. Waterworks experience preferred.

The candidate must possess or obtain a State of Maine Operator Licenses for a Class IV Water Treatment System and Class IV Distribution System within two (2) years of hire; PE license required within two (2) years of hire, and a valid Class C Driver’s License is required.

As a condition of employment, the employee is required to pass a personal background examination.

The Bangor Water District offers an excellent pay and benefit package. Salary starting at $84,000.00.
