The Town of Milford seeks a dedicated, proactive, and experienced candidate to serve as its Fire Chief. 

Milford, incorporated in 1833, is in Penobscot County, 15 miles northeast of Bangor. Milford is a close-knit, family-oriented community of approximately 3,000 year-round residents. 

The Fire Chief is tasked with overseeing all departmental operations and assuming high-level administrative responsibilities. This encompasses the direction, planning, and management of all functions and operations within a Fire Department with a staff of approximately 2 FTEs and 25 paid, on-call firefighter/EMS, and Hazmat personnel. The department director operates under the direct supervision of the Town Administrator/Manager. 

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of successful and progressive experience and skills in personnel management, communication, strategic planning, budget development, and fiscal oversight within a year-round Fire/EMS Department. A post-secondary degree in Fire Science, Management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is preferred, although not mandatory. The candidate should also have at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience and extensive, up-to-date fire, emergency medical, and hazmat training, showcasing expertise in all aspects of Fire Administration. Possession of Firefighter I & II and Emergency Medical Response certifications, or the ability to acquire them successfully, is a requirement. Additionally, a valid Maine driver's license is mandatory.
