Status:            Full-Time  (37.5 hours/week)

Grade:            5  [$27.73 - $39.59/hour]

 

SUMMARY: Oversees maintenance, repair and acquisition of departmental vehicles and related equipment. Provide technical support for department computers, Mobile Data Terminals, and other specialized equipment for fleet vehicles.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study, one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing. Preference given to applicants with experience/certification installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computer systems; or certification in Windows Server Administration and Networking fundamentals.

 

WORK ACTIVITIES: Maintain accurate inventory of all departmental equipment and its condition. Coordinate purchase process of new vehicles and equipment, including preparing the bid specifications. Install and maintain police emergency equipment (lights, siren, Mobile Data Terminal, in-car video system and police radio system) in police vehicles. Maintain public safety software system and in-car video system, including equipment maintenance, user training, problem solving, and coordination with users and vendors to resolve technical issues. Maintain radar calibration database to ensure all units are certified and working properly. Coordinate with MIS, 911 Center IT Support Specialist, users and vendors to diagnose, investigate and resolve IT concerns. Coordinate with Public Works garage and outside repair facilities to schedule repairs and maintenance services for fleet vehicles. Complete insurance claims and stay current on vehicle warranty and recall information. Perform other duties as assigned.
