These positions are currently held separately, though preference may be given to candidates who are qualified and interested in filling both positions simultaneously. Further preference may be given to candidates who are also interested in filling Part-Time Patrol Officer shifts.

The positions require varying hours throughout the year averaging roughly 400 hours for each position, including training time. Candidates who wish to be considered for Part-Time Patrol shift will also be required to undergo a psychological evaluation and polygraph examination.  The rate of pay is $24.75-$26.75 per hour depending on experience and training.

Preference given to Shellfish applicants who have completed the Phase I and/or Phase II Pre-Service Training Programs.  Harbormaster candidates must have attended or must attend within one year, the Maine Harbormaster Association Training. Shellfish Warden candidates must have attended or must attend within one year, the annual Shellfish Warden Training.

The Town of Phippsburg will provide all uniforms, equipment and will pay for training when hired.  The starting rate of pay is commensurate with experience.  The town will give preference to candidates who have experience in either position or training, skills, or certifications relating to the positions.
