The Town of Standish is in search of a seasonal transfer station attendant. Transfer Station hours of operation are Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday. 7:30-4:30 this position is 38 hours a week and will conclude October 14th. Please find job description listed below. NATURE OF WORK

This is semi-skilled work in the operation of various equipment at the municipal Transfer Station.

The employee is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Transfer Station. Work involves assisting citizens in the proper disposal of waste materials, operation of compactors, front-end loaders, woodchipper, snowblower, and other equipment. The Public Works Director or Transfer Station Manager may assign other tasks as needed. The Employee reports to the Public Works Director, Deputy Public Works Director and Transfer Station Manager as needed.

WORK HOURS;

This position is scheduled for 38 hours per week for 20 weeks during the calendar year. The normal workdays are Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 715 AM to 445 PM. The position will be from a date in June to a date in October each year. The employee may be offered more time throughout the calendar year as determined by the Public Works Director.

EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only)

Separates refuse into the proper areas for preparation for recycling.

Assists citizens, businesses, and town employees to properly dispose of waste materials.

Assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of the Transfer Station.

Cleaning as required.

Performs related work as required and directed by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK

Ability to maintain and operate front-end Loader and other equipment at the Transfer Station.

Ability to make judgements as to the proper disposal of various refuse materials.

Ability to work without close supervision producing satisfactory output.
