Recently, we have received inquiries from our members regarding a Freedom of Access Act (FOAA) request from a Portland-area law firm seeking public records “related to No Labels or the No Labels Party.” We understand that virtually identical requests have been received by clerks in multiple municipalities as well as by officials at the State level. Because it seems likely that other communities will receive similar requests, MMA Legal Services has developed the following guidance on municipal rights and obligations under FOAA.
