The Town of Turner is now accepting proposals for replacement of the boiler at the Leavitt Institute building, 98 Matthews Way.  The successful proposal will demonstrate an understanding of the heating needs of the building and the town’s desire for dependability, durability and efficiency.  The current oil-fired boiler has a net rating of 464,000 BTU/hr to heat the four-story, 13,200 square foot building.  Proposals shall contain a detailed description of the equipment to be provided, all costs for installation and connection to existing hot-water piping, exhaust venting, removal and disposal of the existing boiler (negotiable), and costs associated with transitioning to propane, if proposed.  The town is open to and anticipates proposals for both fuel oil and propane systems.  All work shall be completed by Friday, December 6, 2024.  Interested contractors are welcome to inspect the site and existing conditions between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15.  Proposals are due no later than 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, at the Turner Town Office, 11 Turner Center Road.  Proposals will be considered during the Board of Selectmen meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. that evening.  The winning proposal will be the one determined to be in the best interest of the town.
