The Montville Select Board is accepting bids on the winter sand/salt pile for 2024 through 2026 seasons (three year contract).  Specifications are as follows:

Material: Screened sand to be delivered to the Montville municipal sand-salt shed, then mixed with salt and pushed into shed. Sand must not be piled higher than the paint mark on the wall.

Sand must be live; no dead sand accepted.  Sand must meet town quality requirements and be ½ inch and under, screened. A 5-gallon bucket sample, of the sand to be used, must be available for inspection before bid’s are accepted. Sand also needs to be available for inspection by the Road Commissioner or town designee on-site while sand is being delivered; delivery tickets will be signed after every load. All delivery tickets must be signed by town designee to receive payment. Sand is to be put up in a timely manner and must not to be put up while it is raining or 24 hours after a heavy rain.

Quantity: Up to 3,000 yards or until the building is filled (per season), as per Road Commissioner.  No excess sand to be stored outside the building.   

Salt:  to be provided by the town and mixed with the screened sand by the contractor.  The town is responsible for delivery of salt to sand-salt shed and payment of the salt.

Completion date: the sand/salt stockpile is to be completed on or before September 1st each year of contract.

All bids should be received at the Town Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024. Bids will be opened at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024
