Robie Park is located in Gorham, Maine adjacent to the Town Municipal Center and High School. Morrill Avenue is situated to the South, with Ball Park Road to the North and East, and Access Road to the West. The existing park is known for many large Eastern White Pine Trees and it is important that these trees are thoroughly protected with tree protection fencing throughout the demolition and construction process such that there is no damage to the trees. Tree protection is not limited to the branches of trees, it also includes sub-surface roots, which will need to be avoided.

Demolition will include removal and disposal of the existing asphalt basketball court and associated equipment, swing set, play equipment, benches and path connection to the Municipal Buildings and the High School. Any existing placards on the benches shall be removed and provided to the Town of Gorham for future placement as the Town sees fit.

The first Phase of Robie Park Construction includes a new path of circulation connecting the existing Municipal Buildings to the Gorham High School Campus. At either end of this path there is a circular “node” (a “Municipal Node” at one end and a “High School” node at the other end). The remaining scope includes a new playground with amenities for children of all ages as well as a splash pad with concrete surface. The purchase and installation of Kompan play equipment as well as the purchase and install of the porous, poured-in-place rubber surfacing around the equipment, is not included in the contractor’s scope as it will be executed by the Town of Gorham. The selected contractor shall be responsible for site preparation for play equipment and all remaining surfaces within phase one extents, excavation, paving, concrete edging, drainage, boulder placement, water feature installation, utility work, ‘play berms’/grading, soil preparation, mulching and planting. The contractor will need to coordinate pouring of concrete edging with the poured in place surfacing install such that all edges are cleanly delineated prior to the pouring of playground surfacing.

The following scope items have been identified as Bid Alternates:

1. Entry Nodes identified as ‘Municipal Node’ and ‘High School Node’ on the Materials Plan, Sheet L2-00 constructed with asphalt instead of concrete
2. Earthwork and grading of the ‘Play Berms’
3. Benches
4. Loam and Seed completed by the bidder, remaining plantings completed ‘By Others’

There will be a mandatory pre-bid meeting on January 21st at 1pm in the Conference Room B (Room across the hall from the Community Development Office, 2nd floor). Bids are due in Town Hall by Thursday, February 6th at 1pm.

Bids should be delivered to:
