The Town of Brunswick Assessing Department is seeking an experienced and self-motivated candidate for the position of Appraiser.
This position will have ongoing interaction with customers; both in person and over the phone. Ability to work courteously with excellent customer service skills is a necessity. This position will share ongoing assistance to all department visitors, including residents, Town staff, management, etc.
Candidates should review the job description for a full outline of duties. This position will work with the Town Assessor and Assistant Assessor to accomplish duties within specific annual deadlines. A high attention to detail is a must. Requirements include the ability to work independently, prioritize and multi-task as needed. Organizational skills of a high degree are a must. Thorough knowledge of computer operations required, to include Microsoft Office (with a concentration in Excel). Prior experience with Vision and Trio is preferred.
Interested applicants will hold a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by completed course work in property appraisal and assessment. Experience in real estate transactions, appraising, assessing or similar work preferred. Familiarity with building construction details are a plus. Current Certified Maine Assessor status is preferred. However, if the CMA is not currently held by the candidate; the ability to attain Certification will be required within two years following hire.
The full salary range for this position will be $55,434 to $71,710 annually. The starting pay will be pursuant to qualifications and budgetary allowance.
