Paramedic/Firefighter

The City of Belfast is accepting applications for the position(s) of full-time Paramedic/Firefighter. This is a skilled Paramedic EMS position with firefighting responsibilities, both Emergency and Non-emergency, as well as combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires. It involves responding to a wide range of medical and fire suppression emergencies to ensure the stability and safety of our community. Paramedics not interested in firefighting encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Fire or EMS related preferred, possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class C operator's license, CDL preferred, and a Maine EMT Paramedic license is desired. Candidates with AEMT license, who intend to obtain a Paramedic qualification within a reasonable period are encouraged to apply. Additionally, a State of Maine Firefighter I/II  is desired and must be SCBA certified. Candidates must be able to work rotating 24-hour rotating shifts; that may include nights, weekends and holidays. 24 on, 48 off, 24 on 96 off. Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and a post-offer physical exam.
