The Sanford Regional Communications Center is actively recruiting dedicated individuals for Public Safety Dispatcher positons.  This role is critical to our public safety team, providing the essential like between the public and emergency response services.  As a dispatcher, you’ll be the calm and steady voice during emergencies, coordinating law enforcement, fire and rescue responses quickly and effectively.  This position is more than a job – it’s a chance to make a real impact in times of need while working with a committed and supportive team. 

 

As a Public Safety Dispatcher, you’ll operate advanced communication equipment, handle both routine and emergency calls, and coordinate responses across law enforcement, fire, and rescue departments.  You’ll monitor public safety frequencies, maintain situational awareness, and retrieve crucial information from complex teletype and video terminals. 

 

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Applicants currently E-911, EFD and EMD certified are preferred but not required.  Working knowledge of IMC is also desirable.  Selected candidates will undergo a multi-step screening process that includes an Assessment Test, Maine Criminal Justice Academy Alert Test and a Polygraph exam to verify integrity and suitability for the role.  Instructions are provided in the application packet.
