Position: Equipment Operator (I, II or III)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Location: Yarmouth Public Works
Pay Range: Base Hourly Rate per I, II or III Status (before Stipends): E.O. I = $23.52 p/hr.; E.O. II = $24.75 p/hr.; E.O. III=$26.56 p/hr. This position will receive stipends, as eligible.

Description: The Town of Yarmouth is currently accepting applications for the position of Equipment Operator (I, II or III). The position requires both physical labor, and skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of heavy equipment and maintenance of Town roads and infrastructure.
The following is provided for information as to potential category placement (I, II or III). Starting placement designation will be at the discretion of the Public Works Director and Highway Superintendent.
Equipment Operator I: A Candidate who is new to Public Works work tasks (entry level) and starting the progression towards Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) attainment.
Equipment Operator II: The Candidate may have Public Works or construction experience with a shorter attainment window/timeline to the CDL.
Equipment Operator III: The Candidate holds prior Public Works experience and holds a current Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License in good standing.
Requirements:
- Experience in operating heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, excavators, street sweepers, dozers, Class B plow trucks and dump trucks.
- Class B CDL w/Tank Endorsement required (Class A preferred).
- A strong work ethic and dedication to customer service is a must.
Candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply, as the Town will make considerations and will train individuals with similar skillsets and experience. The Town of Yarmouth will provide training to hired Employees in attaining their Class A or Class B Commercial Drivers’ License.
Salary & Benefits: In addition to competitive pay and excellent benefits, the Town of Yarmouth provides ongoing training, a 4-day workweek during the summer months, 13 paid holidays, stipends, safety bonus, clothing allowance, wellness stipend and more. Some eligibility periods will apply for stipends, etc.
