Fairfield Benton Emergency Services is seeking a full-time Firefighter/EMT. The department protects approximately 85 square miles of territory and serves a population of around 9000 residents, providing fire suppression, fire prevention, BLS and ALS non transporting EMS, and a host of other services to the Towns of Fairfield and Benton. Calls for service in 2024 totaled 1895 calls.

Position Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid Motor vehicle operator’s license with no serious infractions.
Must be a Maine licensed EMT-Basic with a requirement to obtain AEMT within a year or the next available class.
Firefighter I or Basic firefighter Certification, with a requirement to complete Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications within a reasonable time determined by the Chief.
EVOC or Class B commercial license
Basic Pump Operator

Pay & Benefits
Full-time Firefighter/EMT’s are non-exempt, union positions. The contract does offer full-time qualified candidates lateral starting pay and vacation commensurate with years of service. The starting yearly base rate for EMT-Basic is $63,000.00 with hourly stipends for ALS licensure of $ 2.00 for AEMT and $3.50 for Paramedic The Town promotes a work/life balance through its wellness opportunities, paid time off, and leave policies to support employees’ varying needs.

Hours & Schedule
This position works a (56) hour average/week schedule. The schedule consists of a 24-hour rotating shift schedule with a built in Kelly Day.
