Knox County Sheriff’s Office ~ Full-Time Patrol Administrator Opening

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) was formed in 1860 and was the first Uniform Sheriff’s Patrol in the state of Maine. The coverage area includes over 360 square miles of the Midcoast and 779 square miles of water within Penobscot Bay. Overview

The Patrol Administrator is responsible for the supervision of the operational aspects of patrol services and airport security, including specialized patrol services and all related administration, and is responsible for the Sheriff's Office law enforcement functions in the absence of the Sheriff and Chief Deputy. The Patrol Administrator shall be required to perform all the duties of a Patrol Supervisor (Sergeant) and shall hold the rank of Captain for the purpose of chain of command. The Patrol Administrator ensures that all law enforcement complaints are properly investigated and that all reports meet all requirements. Responsibilities include the delivery of law enforcement services to all of the communities of Knox County, with a focus on those communities with no organized police department, including the islands and unorganized areas of Knox County.

Qualifications

Applicants must be high school graduates and have a combination of education and experience in a criminal justice related field, three years of experience in a law enforcement capacity, and two years of leadership experience in a law enforcement field. Additionally, we require MCJA law enforcement certification, ICS 100-800, in-service training requirements, and familiarity with US Constitution and Maine Criminal Statutes.
