Plan Reviewer or Building Inspector - The Town of Windham Code Enforcement Department is seeking a per-diem (on call) Plan Reviewer or Building Inspector to join a growing, dynamic team to enhance the Town’s quality of life and building stock by conducting field inspections to enforce the health, safety, zoning, and or the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Codes (MUBEC). This per-diem position will assist our code enforcement staff with meeting extra demand at specific times of the year, cover scheduled vacations and perform the same duties as permanent staff, but their schedule only last for a few weeks or days out of the year.

The ideal candidate for this position must possess outstanding customer service and communication skills. This position requires certification by the State within one year.  Experience in shoreland zoning regulations, building trades, interpreting building plans, general inspection work, and high school diploma preferably supplemented by courses in structural, design, architecture, fire science technology, land use regulation, or equivalent combination of experience and training is required. Familiarity with various computer software programs and laptop/ field tablet equipment. State of Maine Licensed Electricians and Certified Code Enforcement Officers with a background in construction or land use regulations (shoreland) are encouraged to apply.

The candidate will directly report to the Code Enforcement Deputy Director, with oversight from the Code Enforcement Director. 

The hourly rate for this per-diem position is $40.00 per hour. This position offers flexible hours to cover vacations or increased work demands.
