EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I – TRANSFER STATION ATTENDANT
The City of Sanford is looking for a dedicated and skilled Transfer Station Attendant to join our team. As a full-time (40 hours per week) Transfer Station Attendant, you'll play a key role in the daily operations and upkeep of the Transfer Station. You’ll be part of a team committed to the smooth and efficient running of Sanford's waste and recycling systems, with additional responsibilities during emergency events such as snow storms.
The successful applicant must possess experience in the operation of moderately heavy to heavy equipment and be capable of basic maintenance. You’ll be interacting with the public daily, so we need someone who values a positive community experience and possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, officials, co-workers, and the public. Experience with accurate cash handling and transaction processing is preferred. The City of Sanford is now willing to train you so you can obtain your CDL if hired
Applicants must have (or obtain) and maintain a valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL operator’s license. They must possess an accident-free driving record (non-fault) for the past 18 months and no moving citations in the last 12 months. On-call availability is required and a willingness to respond to emergencies, including snowstorms, to ensure public safety and accessibility. This includes nights, holidays and weekends as determined by the needs of the City.
All applicants for positions requiring a CDL are required to pass a drug test as a prerequisite of employment, prior to final hiring and must also successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the City.
