Status:             Full-Time 40+ hours/week

Grade:             3/4  (starting at $20.38 - $21.43/hour)

Depending on license.

SUMMARY: Performs minor building construction tasks, facility maintenance and custodial duties; priority locations being public restrooms and parking garages.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent GED, plus two (2) years building maintenance experience. Must have a valid State of Maine Class C driver’s license.

WORK ACTIVITIES: Clean public restrooms and City parking garages (pressure wash, sweep, mop, vacuum, replenish bathroom supplies, collect litter/debris, remove trash/recyclables). Understand and always utilize appropriate safety measures when coming into contact with human waste and potential blood borne pathogens. Complete snow removal, monitor building condition, and report safety concerns. Clean and maintain exterior of buildings to include shoveling, sanding, mowing and structural repairs. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as monitoring and repairing plumbing, carpentry repairs and painting, and replacing light fixtures and bulbs. Monitor and maintain custodial equipment including coordination with vendors. Operate light vehicles and equipment, as license allows.

May also lift/move office furniture, boxes, and other items. Set up and take down tables, and at times act as a building monitor/custodian for other public buildings. Interact with the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Must be available for emergency and winter operations, and overtime as required.  Able to follow oral and written instruction, and perform other duties as assigned.
