The Saco Police Department is currently seeking TWO EXPERIENCED PATROL OFFICERS to serve as the dedicated School Resource Officers (SRO) to serve as a key liaison between law enforcement and the Saco School Department. The SRO will be assigned to schools within the City of Saco, with one officer typically serving grades K-8 and another assigned to Thornton Academy. Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with students while serving as a mentor and role model.
- Provide law enforcement presence and respond to incidents as needed.
- Foster a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff, and faculty.
- Collaborate with school administrators and educators to address safety concerns.
- Educate students on law-related topics, such as bullying prevention and substance abuse awareness.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling student-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Certified law enforcement officer with experience in patrol operations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in student-related cases.
- Experience working with youth or in a school setting is preferred.
- Commitment to community-oriented policing and fostering trust with students and staff.
