Are you interested in making a difference in your community? The Town of Freeport is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Response Coordinator to join our team. 

Working under the supervision of the Fire/Rescue Chief, the Community Response Coordinator is a licensed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider who will play a critical role in responding to community members in crisis. This position offers the chance to lead a team that is solving crises, as well as opportunities to build connections with local agencies and residents. 

The Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Freeport Police Department’s Alternative Response Specialist and Town Administration to address community health and crisis intervention needs. They will also manage and direct the daily operations of the General Assistance program, ensuring efficiency and compliance with local ordinances, as well as state and federal laws. 

Key responsibilities include crisis intervention, community health education, outreach, and case management. This position operates with a high degree of independence and decision-making authority while also serving as part of a paramedical team. Following Maine EMS-approved Community Paramedicine protocols, the Coordinator will provide assessments and care for individuals with chronic medical, acute, and behavioral health problems. 

Work hours are flexible based on community needs, including periodic emergency responses outside of regular business hours.

-  A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in emergency medical response with individuals who experience medical, mental health, and quality of life issues. 

-  Licensed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider in the State of Maine.

-  High school diploma or equivalent, with an accredited degree in social science, behavioral/mental health, psychology, or a closely related field required. Equivalent education, training, and work experience will be considered. 

Salary: Starts at $80,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
