Marine Resource Officer – Full-Time

The Town of Phippsburg, Maine, is conducting a search for its first Marine Resources Officer. The Marine Resource Officer is a newly created position within the Police Department. The position is a combination of sworn Harbormaster, Shellfish Warden, and Patrol Officer. This new position is an exciting opportunity for an individual with interests in harbor management, municipal shellfish management, and police patrol duties.

 

Applicants must have completed the Alert test and the Pre-Service training course of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA).  Preference may be given to applicants who have graduated from the MCJA or hold a degree in criminal justice or law enforcement.  Applicants must meet age requirements as established by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and successfully pass a physical agility test (MCJA standards), oral board, background investigation, psychological, polygraph and medical examinations. The Town of Phippsburg will provide all uniforms, equipment and will pay for training when hired.

 

Candidates must be 21 years old, possess a valid Maine driver’s license, possess a High School Diploma or GED. Seeking applicants with strong communication skills.
