The City of Bath is hiring an Assistant Codes Enforcement Officer in the Codes Division of the Planning and Development Department. The ACEO position is a unique opportunity to have a role in ensuring Bath properties continue to develop safely and in alignment with local codes and State laws for building construction and renovations. You would report to the Codes Enforcement Officer and be responsible for enforcing codes and laws encompassing building construction, development, land use, signs, sewers, refuse, blasting, and public health.

Is this your perfect job? You have three years of related experience and knowledge of laws and standards relating to construction, land use, and public safety; can analyze complex situations and data; and understand construction plans, surveys, and deeds. You have sound judgement, communicate effectively, and are capable of enforcing rules while building and maintaining positive relationships. You would take pride in ensuring the health and safety of the Bath community and are certified by the State of Maine to practice codes enforcement or can become certified within one year of hiring.

This full-time, FLSA exempt position is a Grade B09 on the City’s scale, and starting salary range is $62,545 – 71,926 depending on experience.
