Status: Full Time (37.5 hours/week)
Class Grade: 9 ($77,454-$114,309)
SUMMARY: Serving as the economic development lead in charge of special development projects, marketing, business attraction, housing development, grant management and compliance, and leads task force work as assigned. Develops and executes strategies to attract investment and economic activity to the City of Lewiston, and implements and oversee programs and initiatives that will attract, retain, and grow businesses to promote a stronger economic base and a diverse mix of business and real estate.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: B.A. or higher in public policy/administration, economic/community development, planning, economics, business or related field; or four years related experience in planning and implementing strategic initiatives; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORK ACTIVITIES: This position is responsible for management/implementation of City sponsored special projects. This position will proactively develop projects and programs promoting Lewiston and economic development using a current developable and/or vacant property inventory, maintains regular contact with developers, state and federal agencies, professional and technical groups, and acts as a regulatory and marketing liaison. This position is expected to participate in city and regional business committees, including after hour meetings. This position facilitates development projects, writes TIF applications, and provides guidance on the disposition of City owned surplus land. This position is responsible for writing economic development summaries for bond prospectus, publications, annual reports and participates in zoning and land use recommendations. Works in tandem with city leadership to develop, implement and report on strategic goals related to economic development.
