The Town of Yarmouth Fire-Rescue Department is currently accepting applications for an immediate opening for a Career Firefighter/EMS provider.  The Town of Yarmouth has a year-round population of 9,000 residents with a full-service Fire-Rescue department responding to approximately 1,800 calls for service annually. Yarmouth Fire-Rescue provides 24-hour Paramedic coverage to our community, as well as Paramedic intercepts for neighboring communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants must possess a current State of Maine EMS license with a strong preference for Paramedic licensure.  Consideration will be given to Maine EMS Advanced and Paramedic licensed applicants currently enrolled in a Paramedic program.
  • Preferred certifications of Firefighter 1 & 2 and NIMS 100 & 700 are desired. 
  • Must hold a State of Maine Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Must hold a high school diploma or GED with college coursework preferred. 
  • Applicants must successfully pass a physical agility test.  The leading Candidate will undergo and must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and medical clearance. 

This position is eligible for:

  • Pay scale: Pending ratification of a new Contract
  • Maine Public Employees Retirement System (Maine PERS): 50% after 20 years

  • Health Insurance: The Town covers 85% and the Employee covers 15%
  • Full On-Site Gym / Regional Fire Training Facility
  • New State-of-the-art Public Safety Building (built in 2021)
  • Shift Hours: 42-hour work week: 24 on / 24 off / 24 on / 5 days off
