Building Maintenance and Custodial Worker – 40 hours/week (varied schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays). Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department, Public Assembly Facilities Division.

Step into a vital role as a Building Maintenance and Custodial Worker for where you'll be the backbone of our facility's upkeep! From ensuring a clean and safe environment to event set-up and maintenance tasks, you'll play a crucial part in maintaining our spaces. If you're dependable, and enjoy hands-on work, we want to hear from you!

Duties include seasonal outdoor restroom and portable toilet maintenance in parks, trails, parking garages and other locations through the City. This work will include cleaning and removing all trash from 17 portable toilets and 2 vault toilets. This seasonal work can accommodate a flexible schedule based on cleaning needs. Event set-up prior to events, necessary assistance during events that includes placing and moving chairs, mats, risers and stage sections, sound and light equipment and sports equipment, clean-up immediately following the event that includes moving and/or removing all items and equipment that was used during the event and routine cleaning of facility prior to and following each event. Duties also include performing routine facility maintenance as necessary and routine exterior maintenance, including snow removal.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects over an extended period of time.
  • Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet and deal courteously with the public.
  • Physical strength and agility necessary to perform the essential functions of the work.
  • Must possess valid Class C driver's license in good standing, and a reliable vehicle for work-use when applicable.
  • Prior customer service experience desired.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, Labor & Trades – Grade 14 - Starting at $808/week.
