COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST - Public Health Division
Seeking a qualified individual for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) project position to assist with a community-based Healthy Eating Active Living program. This grant-funded position is part of the City of Portland's Chronic Disease Prevention Program of the Public Health Division, Health and Human Services Department. This position will assist in implementing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Education program with minority communities, schools, and childcare sites throughout Portland and develop system-level interventions to address health equity through the Maine Prevention Network grant.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Experience in nutrition education and community outreach is required.
• Successful candidates will be energetic self-starters who can complete required tasks
independently. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a public health-related field or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• Experience recruiting for and implementing multi-session nutrition education programs, specifically USDA programs, is strongly desired.
• Must have excellent written and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, Pro-Tech(Grade 6) - Starting at $26.27hr.
