City of Portland - Contract Recruitment Specialist
The City of Portland's Human Resources team is currently seeking a motivated and skilled Contract Recruitment Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in successfully managing the full cycle recruitment process and developing strategies to build candidate pipelines. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing competing priorities effectively.
Position Overview:
This role will involve sourcing diverse candidates, building strong relationships with applicants, consulting with hiring teams throughout the recruitment process, and assisting in the development of recruitment procedures and practices. This position is expected to be onsite in Portland, Maine - flexible work arrangements including hybrid options are available.
This is a contract position scheduled through 06/30/2025.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Source candidates and assist with their needs throughout the recruitment process.
• Utilize various recruiting tools and resources to identify and build candidate pipelines.
• Employ a consultative approach with hiring teams to facilitate recruitment efforts and serve as a resource for both candidates and team members.
• Post and advertise city positions across various platforms.
• Review interview questions and other hiring materials for accuracy and effectiveness.
• Represent the city at recruitment events and community outreach activities.
• Assist in developing recruitment strategies and materials to streamline processes and attract top talent.
• Manage database integrity and assist in building recruitment reports/metrics.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 2+ years of experience in recruiting or staffing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Solid understanding of recruiting and sourcing strategies.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and community partners.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with various teams.
• Proactive, with the ability to work independently.
• Proficient with, or the ability to quickly learn, applicant tracking software (ATS) and other recruitment/social media systems.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Experience with diversity sourcing methods.
• Experience with building community partnerships and programs.

Salary:
The salary for this position is $40.00/hr.
