City of Portland - Cook I - Barron Center
Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
The Barron Center is a 219-bed, municipally operated, long-term and skilled care nursing home which includes a dementia unit. The Cook I prepares food in an industrial kitchen in accordance with detailed menus and resident needs. Work includes preparing and cooking food, operating standard cooking equipment and maintaining an orderly and clean kitchen.
The schedule is Monday & Tuesday 5 AM - 1 PM and Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday 11 AM - 7 PM.
Required Skills & Experience:
Must have knowledge of large scale cooking practices.
Graduate of culinary arts program or experience preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Must possess valid Maine Class C driver's license or the ability to obtain within first six months of employment.
Must pass a pre-employment physical exam.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 6M) - Salary Range: $19.35 - $21.94/hour.
