Custodial Worker – Social Services Department
The schedule (s) for this position will be Monday-Friday 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM
The City of Portland's Social Services Division is hiring a full time custodial worker. This position performs custodial functions which include cleaning buildings and staff offices at a variety of locations. This position will operate out of the new homeless shelter, located at 166 Riverside Street. Job duties include general cleaning, trash removal, cleaning of bathrooms, floor care, waiting rooms, laundry, light maintenance, grounds work, routine facility maintenance as necessary, routine exterior maintenance, including snow removal, and other tasks as required.
Requirements:
• The successful candidate hired into these positions will have experience in custodial/maintenance work.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions on your own.
• Working knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Candidates will also interact with the citizens occasionally, so the ability to communicate respectfully is expected.
• Additional requirements of the custodial position are the physical strength and agility to perform the job duties and valid Maine Class C driver’s license.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, Labor & Trades (Grade 11) - Starting at $19.76/hr.
