Geriatric Social Worker - Barron Center

Health and Human Services Department

Permanent, Full-Time position – Schedule 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday - Friday.

The Barron Center is owned and operated by the City of Portland and is Maine’s largest skilled nursing facility. Now is your chance to have the job you always wanted - being a part of a team that makes a difference in the lives of our Residents.

This position involves professional social work with long-term care residents and their families, assisting in the adjustment to the facility, and working as a team member to provide for and assure quality of life for facility residents. Additional duties may include; meeting with residents and family upon admissions to determine needs and to formulate care plans, act as an advocate for residents and their rights, maintaining social service documentation in accordance with State regulation and more.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • Qualified candidates will have at least one year experience in long-term care or geriatric care work, including knowledge of community resources.
  • Working knowledge or social services system.
  • Licensed Social Worker designation required.
  • Ability to prepare complete and valid case records.
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures to specific cases.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 15) - Starting pay range $23.07 - $25.76 per hour.
