City of Portland - Horticulture Seasonal Groundskeepers

May through November full-time or part-time schedule (16-40 hours/week).

The Parks, Recreation & Facilities team is currently seeking groundskeepers to join the team for the upcoming season. As a groundskeeper you will play a key role in performing landscape gardening work, planting, and maintaining City ornamental display gardens and natural spaces.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Planting
• Cultivating
• Weeding
• Shrub & hedge pruning
• Landscaping & watering
• Invasive species removal, and some hand mowing and string trimming.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Prior landscape/horticulture experience and/or education desired.
• Responsibility, maturity, dedication
• The ability to work in varied weather conditions are a must.
• Applicants for Groundskeeper positions must be at least 18 years old.
• A valid Maine Class C driver's license is preferred, and a Department of Motor Vehicle check will be conducted on those who have one.

Hourly Rate

$18.00/hr.
