City of Portland - Laundry Machine Operator

LAUNDRY OPERATOR – Barron Center, Linen Services
Full-time – 37.5 hours per week - Weekly schedule: Friday - Tuesday 6:30AM-2:30PM.

The Barron Center is owned and operated by the City of Portland and is Maine’s largest skilled nursing facility. Now is your chance to have the job you always wanted - being a part of a team that makes a difference in the lives of the residents of the Barron Center. Duties may include distributing clean linen within the facility, rubbish removal, loading and unloading commercial washers and dryers; folding and sorting linen; picking up soiled linen, hanging and delivering personal laundry.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Must be able to lift objects weighing over 50 lbs. for an extended period of time.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperature conditions.
• Must possess a valid Maine Class C driver’s license.
• Must be able to follow oral and simple written instructions.
• The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment physical exam.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 5) - Starting pay range $17.37- $19.32 per hour
