City of Portland - Parking Control Officer

 

PARKING CONTROL OFFICER - Parking Division

 

Schedule is Monday - Friday 10:30am-6:30pm (Full-Time 37.5 hours/week)

 

The Parking Division is currently looking for enthusiastic individuals that enjoy working outdoors and enjoy working independently, as well as in a team setting. If you are self-motivated and enjoy a challenge, this could be a great fit.

 

We utilize a variety of techniques and tools to enforce the parking laws in the city, i.e., foot/bicycle patrol, LPR vehicles, etc. If you are a detail-oriented person that has a good sense of fairness and judgement making, we would love to hear from you. The ability to communicate clearly is a must, as well as excellent customer service skills.

 

Requirements:

 

• Previous customer service experience and excellent customer service skills.

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to work independently.

• Familiarity with Word and Excel.

• Knowledge of or the ability to learn both the layout of the City and two-way radio communication procedures.

• Ability to perform light physical work with frequent standing and walking, reaching, stooping, lifting/carrying objects weighing 25 lbs., and field of vision to move quickly or to stand in traffic and avoid being hit by vehicles.

• Ability and willingness to work in varied weather conditions.

• Ability to pass pre-employment physical assessment.

• Must possess valid Maine Class C driver's license (must provide license number) and maintain a good driving record.

Salary & Benefits:

 

This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 10) - Pay rate starting at $20.63/hr.
