HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES - SOCIAL SERVICES DIVISION

Security Guard - Full Time - (37.5 hours per week) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Thursday 7:30a- 1p.m.

This position is located at the General Assistance Office (39 Forest Ave). This position will handle internal and external security through visual observation at the General Assistance office. They will be responsible for using safety protocols to greet facility guests, perform scheduled and random searches during check-in/open hours times and by staff request. The Shelter Security Guard will be responsible for addressing guest or visitor concerns and conflicts, alerting Shelter/General Assistance staff of guests in crisis, assisting in emergency situations, and reporting any suspicious activity.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Has a professional disposition and excellent customer service skills.
They also possess the ability to stay calm and de-escalate crisis situations.
Ability to work on their feet for extended periods of time.
Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
Previous experience with vulnerable populations
Experience with incident documentation and related paperwork.
Experience working as part of a team in a fast-paced, client-focused setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 8) - Starting pay rate of $19.02/hr.
