The City of Sanford is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Communications Coordinator to lead external and internal communications, enhance our public image, and connect with our vibrant community. The Communications Coordinator has diverse challenges from crafting public information campaigns to managing social media. Take charge of communications and marketing strategies, ensuring the city’s message is clear, consistent, and impactful. You will work with city leaders, departments, and the public to strengthen connections and foster trust.
The ideal candidate will manage communications, oversee marketing, prepare public information messaging, build community relations, media relations, handle social media management, website oversight and respond promptly and effectively to emerging issues.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing strategies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to think strategically and handle high-pressure situations with professionalism.
- Familiarity with website management and content creation tools
- A team player with a commitment to building trust and engagement within the community.
Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field. At least two years of Public Relations/Communications/Marketing experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Related municipal or public/government service knowledge is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
